REAL WEDDING Mrs & Mrs Sheard Saturday 29th May 2025

September 29, 2025

PREPARATIONS

The brides chose to get ready at Breckland Lodge, a hotel that is just 10 minutes away from Applewood Hall.

A UNIQUE WAY TO TRAVEL

As a lorry driver herself, Lizzie was picked up by a close friend of hers and travelled to us in the cab of a lorry. A great example of a personalised touch to their day!

THE DETAILS

A vintage theme with a colour palette that included tan, nude & cream, whilst accentuated with dusky blue and pink. Bringing in more personalised touches, their ‘I do’ crew all had pocket watches and Sammy had lace pattern on her nails, both of which tied in perfectly with their vintage theme.

CEREMONY

A beautiful spring day! The couple had their ceremony outside in our landscaped garden in front of our fairy light pagoda.

Sammy & Lizzie even made sure their dog was part of the big day too – he even dressed for the occasion!

SPECIAL MOMENTS

With Applewood Hall being right next door to Banham Zoo, Sammy & Lizzie took a short walk across to feed the giraffes and say hello to some zoo guests on their way! (This is an added option couples can book directly with the zoo for an additional charge)

They walked the grounds to capture moments with just the two of them (+ baby bump!) and they stopped at our sign for a fun picture – our sister business Applewood Countryside Park offers camping & glamping should guests be looking for a place to stay with a difference.

ENTERTAINMENT

For their evening celebrations, they had a photobooth to get lots of fun shots of their guests throughout the night and the band The Do Ya Do’s to get the party started!

FALL ing in love – How to plan that perfect Autumn wedding. The air turns crisp, but the surroundings are warm in colour. Autumn sets the scene like no other season can, and there’s something really special about saying ‘I do’ in the heart of it all. Choosing a wedding date in Autumn means you can embrace bold or burnt orange tones, mustard yellow, deep burgundy or olive green…a colour palette that matches the rich, earthy vibes the season has to offer. Use nature as your inspiration! Think rustic wooden logs, textured table linens, hessian chair sashes and of course, pumpkins & pinecones! Bring that cosy, warm and homely feel to your wedding. Being a marquee lined venue in the countryside, the Autumn themes can really come to life at Applewood Hall! Add in extra details like fairy lights, faux candles and lanterns, alongside seasonal flowers and leafy foliage to emphasize this cosier season. If you are looking at doing something a bit different, we have seen wedding days that incorporate a couples’ love of Halloween, day of the dead, Harry Potter, horror movies or Vikings. With quirky additions that include, skulls & skeletons, banquet style tables and floating candles, iconic villains on biscuits, and axes used to cut the cake! Summer is often the most popular time of year to get married as many expect the weather to be better. However, being in England and through experience, there really is no guarantee with the weather at any time of year (We have held peak summer weddings where it has rained all day!) You could find there is more availability for venues and suppliers when you look at an Autumn date, and you could be just as lucky if your day does bring sunshine (or at least have the rain hold off). With ideal spots around Applewood Hall, you can take a stroll as newlyweds and find some perfect autumnal backdrops for your photographer to get your couple shots. Don’t forget about golden hour and capturing that seasonal magic! With the bridal gowns often taking the spotlight, it’s a refreshing change when the cooler months creep in, as the attire for the menswear does change… With velvet black blazers and floral ties, three-piece tweed and bowties, to deep burgundy brown suits with boots. We love to see it! Some final points: - Keep it cosy. Have some blankets available for your guests, should the weather turn colder. - Folk or ceilidh band? We have seen these becoming popular for autumnal weddings. - It’s bonfire season ! What about having some evening sparkler photos? - Consider timings . Autumn days mean less daylight, adjust your photo schedule accordingly.
Sundown on the Sunset Social at Applewood Hall
August 20, 2025
What an unforgettable evening! On Thursday, 12th June, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting The Sunset Social right here at Applewood Hall and what a night it was. Hosted at one of South Norfolk’s best-kept secrets, our trio of event spaces; the Hall, Orchard Room and Garden set the perfect stage for an event that was anything but your typical summer garden party. From 4pm to 8pm, over 110 guests from across the region’s thriving business community came together to enjoy an afternoon of relaxed networking, vibrant entertainment, and the warmest of atmospheres. As the sun dipped, the garden buzzed with conversation and laughter. Casino tables brought out a spark of friendly competition, lawn games added a touch of whimsy, and guests connected over delicious canapés and summer-inspired drinks. It was a joy to see so many spontaneous moments of connection blossom just as the garden itself was in full bloom. We were delighted to partner with Naked Marketing and SLM Group to bring this unique event to life and support an experience that felt as relaxed and welcoming as it did memorable. Seeing our space filled with energy, joy, and new connections is exactly why we do what we do. To everyone who joined us, a big thank you. You brought the spirit that made the evening shine, and we’re so proud to have been part of it. We’re already looking ahead with excitement as talk turns to The Santa Social this winter. If The Sunset Social was anything to go by, we promise you something equally magical, festive, and full of heart. Stay tuned and we hope to welcome you back again soon.
